Import Letter of Credit
U.S. Century Bank can help you structure your Import Letters of Credit with
the least risk possible, recommending terms that are favorable to both you
and your suppliers, ultimately facilitating documentary compliance by the
exporter. A letter of credit may be instrumental in ensuring that goods are
shipped in accordance with your instructions prior to your release of
Export Letter of Credit
U.S. Century Bank can provide the expertise to help you structure your letter
of credit to meet your export requirements. When selling overseas, you want
to have an assurance of payment before you ship and receive payment as quickly
as possible. We can also confirm letter of credit when the issuing bank is a
lesser-known entity or you wish to avoid foreign country risk.
Standby Letter of Credit
With a standby letter of credit you have an alternative to assure fulfillment
of contract terms. This is often used in lieu of Performance of Bid Bonds for
International or Domestic transactions. This document provides your trading
partners the assurance that your company will fulfill the terms of the
contract by providing U.S. Century Bank as the credit support in lieu of
yours, when your own credit may not be known or readily accepted.
Transferable Letter of Credit
A broker or an intermediary may receive a letter of credit from the buyer
and wish to transfer the letter of credit in favor of the producer of goods.
This transferable letter of credit allows the beneficiary to fully or partially
transfer the letter of credit to one or more separate parties. The transferee
(second beneficiary) would have control over his shipment and payment
upon complying with terms and conditions. This product can provide you a
risk-free solution as well as the capability to resell goods without using your
source of funds or credit.
Assignment of Proceeds
An assignment of proceeds can provide you a risk-free solution as well as
capacity to resell goods without using your source of funds or credit. If you
are a broker or intermediary, you can assign the proceeds of a letter of
credit in favor of the producer of goods. The beneficiary can assign proceeds fully or partially to one or more separate parties. You as the beneficiary will have full control over the shipment and payment upon complying with the terms and conditions.
U.S. Century Bank can provide expeditious foreign check process as well as documentary import and export documentary collections.
We can facilitate the clearing of foreign items by utilizing:
Foreign Check Collection: We provide foreign check collection services by direct presentment to the drawee bank for final payment. Proceeds are credited to the customer's account upon receipt of funds.
Documentary Collections: We can act as intermediaries to collect payment from the buyer in exchange for the transfer of documents that enable the holder to take possession of the goods. The procedure is easier than a documentary credit, and the bank charges are lower. Documentary Collections involve the use of a draft that requires the importer to pay the face amount either on sight (document against payment—D/P) or on a specified date in the future (document against acceptance—D/A). This product however, is not surety of payment but rather only an act of collection of funds for documents.
With our global links throughout the world, international payments of all
types can be completed worldwide via electronic transmission or Bank
Drafts. Your payment can be made in either U.S. dollars or foreign currency.
U.S. Century Bank offers foreign currencies Spot. Spot contracts are
transactions in which foreign currency is purchased or sold at current
market rates and delivered within two business days. We offer foreign
currency drafts and foreign currency wire transfers as well.
Providing lower financing costs for your trade transactions, these negotiable
instruments are short-term and fixed rate and used for open account and
documentary (letter of credit or collections) transactions covering imports
The Export - Import Bank of the United States (EximBank) has established
the Working Capital Guarantee program to help commercial banks extend
export-related working capital financing to exporters who, without the
repayment guarantee of EximBank, would not fully meet the bank's
underwriting criteria and qualify for financing.
